FireQual Recognised Training Programmes

Independent Fire Safety Services (IFSS) has been approved to provide this Recognised Training Programme.

About this Recognised Training Programme

This entitles individuals to gain certification for completion of a programme of learning separate to the FireQual regulated qualification offering. Recognised Programmes exist where there is a requirement or it is seen as best practice to undertake a programme of learning to carry out a role but where there is no requirement or the subject is not appropriate for a regulated qualification or where there is no regulated qualification offering currently provided by FireQual.

This course is designed to improve the skills and knowledge of individuals when installing fire doors, in order to improve the standards / levels of compliance of fire doors in the built environment. The Fire Door Installation Course is in two parts – a knowledge unit, and a practical unit and each element can be taken separately.  For the whole certificate, it is most useful for Qualified carpenters/joiners, and fire door technicians.  The knowledge only component may be useful for site managers or anyone looking to improve their knowledge of fire door installation.

The course covers:

  • The role of fire doors
  • The construction of timber fire doors
  • The laws, regulations and standards that affect fire doors
  • Certificate data sheets and installation instructions
  • Common failure issues
  • Compliance vs Non- Compliance
  • How to successfully plan an installation and install a fire door.
  • Self assessment of the installation
  • Client Handover
