Steve Skarratt: Can you describe the work of Delyn Safety UK Ltd. and how you support the fire safety industry?

Mike Joy: Delyn Safety Ltd was derived from a meeting of minds, top safety trainers and consultants discussing how best to provide a service to a diverse range of clients and industries.

As a group we felt that compliance alone should not be the only driver to provide these services and that client’s working with us should be helped to achieve more.

Our programs deliver simple cost affective training and consultancy at the highest standard but for those looking to manage more effectively and generate cultural change in their organisations we also offer a far broader service to include NEBOSH and CITB qualifications, first aid, fire risk assessments and ISO.

Our goal is to help businesses achieve the level of compliance and good practice that they wish to achieve, making businesses safe and profitable for all those involved and affected by it.

We eliminate the stress and worries by providing complete health and safety and environmental support services and training. A safe workplace is a productive workplace, and we carry out a full risk assessment of your premises to ensure this is the case.

Steve: Why did you choose to work with FireQual?

Mike: We chose to work with FireQual to add external validation to our course and because of the additional value and recognised competence that this gives to our customers.

Steve: What do you feel are the current challenges within the fire safety industry?

Mike: We believe that the current challenges relate to the lack of suitably trained personnel within the industry, which also impacts on the industry’s reputation.

Steve: Why do you feel the development of knowledge and skills is important to the fire safety industry?

Mike: It is important as it provides individuals with the competences and skills that they need to do their jobs efficiently and effectively and raises awareness of the standards required within the industry.

Mike: These programmes determine a benchmark of credibility and trust as they demonstrate that sufficient knowledge and skills levels have been meet by an individual to carry out the tasks in hand.
