Development Begins of Fire Detection and Alarm Qualifications

Tuesday 8th June 2021

Following the success of FireQual in gaining regulated status from both CCEA Regulation in Northern Ireland and SQA Accreditation in Scotland, we are not standing still. Our attention is now turning to the subject matter of Fire Detection and Alarms.

FireQual is developing a series of qualifications that will look to provide the underpinning knowledge required by those who work within the area of fire detection and alarms.

In addition, reflecting on the core messages of the reports, Building a Safer Future – Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety (May 2018) and Setting the Bar (2020), we will be looking at how core practical competencies can be accurately and consistently assessed.

Following our aim to provide industry led qualifications, we are constituting a development group made up of representatives from the sector and training organisations to establish qualifications that both meet the needs of industry and are deliverable across the UK.

And, as part of this development work, we want to hear the opinions of others. If you would like to input your thoughts into the group, please complete our questionnaire below which should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.

Further updates on the qualifications available through FireQual can be found both within the News section and also within the Qualifications section which can be accessed here
