FireQual Level 4 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment in High-Risk Premises and Supporting the Development of Others
What level is this qualification and who is the regulator?
The FireQual Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment in High-Risk Premises and Supporting the Development of Others has been accredited by Ofqual at RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework) Level 4.
This qualification is also available at SCQF/SQA Level 7 (equivalent to RQF/Ofqual Level 4)
Please note that the only major difference between the qualifications available is the regulator. Both qualifications available are recognised across the UK.
Who is this qualification suitable for?
- Fire Risk Assessors conducting (or intending to conduct) high-risk assessment work looking to demonstrate their knowledge and to support in the development/supervision of other Fire Risk Assessors.
- Fire safety professionals looking to specifically identify issues with high-risk Fire Risk Assessments undertaken.
- Developing Fire Risk Assessors looking to progress from medium-risk Fire Risk Assessment work.
- Individuals who require appropriate knowledge to audit high-risk Fire Risk Assessment work undertaken by others.
Qualification Details
This qualification looks at the knowledge and application to perform high-risk Fire Risk Assessments. Once qualified, you will have evidence that you:
- Understand applicable fire safety legislation and associated standards.
- Have appropriate knowledge to prepare for a visit to conduct a high-risk Fire Risk Assessment work.
- Have appropriate knowledge to conduct high-risk Fire Risk Assessment work and supervise other Fire Risk Assessors and their work.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must be able to show evidence of either having completed the FireQual Medium-Risk Premises qualification (or equivalent), and/or evidence of sufficient experience of completing suitable and sufficient fire risk assessments in medium-risk premises (as defined by the Benchmark Standard).
How do I achieve this qualification?
Please contact a FireQual Approved Training Centre that provides this qualification. They will be able to advise all details required to achieve this qualification (including the cost and length of training).
Some training providers may permit you to take the assessment without the associated training. Please contract the training provider directly to enquire about this.

Progression Routes
Once achieved, this qualification may be used as evidence of suitable knowledge when undergoing audit for relevant Third-Party Certification (e.g. BAFE SP205 for high-risk work).
