What level is this qualification and who is the regulator?

 

The FireQual Level 5 Certificate in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment is accredited by Ofqual and is listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at Level 5.

It is also available in Scotland as the FireQual Certificate in Advanced Fire Risk Assessment at SCQF Level 8, accredited by SQAA. The content, learning outcomes and assessments are equivalent across both versions, and both qualifications are fully recognised across the UK.

This qualification is designed for experienced practitioners who already hold intermediate-level competence and are working independently as Fire Risk Assessors in high-risk and complex environments. It is suitable for:

What does the qualification cover?

 

On completion, candidates will be able to competently carry out advanced-level Fire Risk Assessments in buildings and premises categorised as high risk.

  • Interpret and meet all statutory obligations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Critically evaluate fire safety measures, including their requirements and limitations, to mitigate fire development, growth, and spread.

  • Apply knowledge of building design, construction, and maintenance in relation to fire safety risks.

  • Critically assess fire safety management systems in high-risk buildings to determine effectiveness and resilience.

Entry Requirements

 

Candidates must normally hold a Fire Risk Assessment qualification at Level 4 (Intermediate) or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.

They should also have strong literacy, numeracy, analytical, and professional reporting skills.
